Exclusive cover reveal - Dark Secrets - Jack Steele

I'm soooo excited to have an exclusive cover reveal for Jack Steele's Dark Secrets here on The Hippo today!!!!

Let me tell you the story behind how this fantastic exclusive came about.

Back in 2016 I received an email from an unknown to me author called Jack Steele asking if I would be interested in reading his crime fiction novel Loose Cannon. I read the blurb, thought it sounded great and replied to say that I would love to read it as soon as my busy schedule allowed. Little did I know what I was letting myself in for. Two months later I started to read Loose Cannon and I devoured it in two days! As soon as I'd finished it I simply had to email Jack and this is what I wrote:

OMG I've just finished reading Loose Cannon this evening. . . . . . . . . .please tell me there's a sequel!! I've never needed a sequel as much as I need one for Loose Cannon!

Jack replied, almost straight away telling me how pleased he was that I'd enjoyed it and promising that he was busy writing the sequel. Music to my ears! After that I waited  patiently, well mostly patiently (sorry for the probably not so subtle hints Jack!), for news of book two. Long Shot arrived at the end of the following year and just like Jack's first book I raced through it in a few days and once again I found myself waiting with baited breath for the next book.

A few weeks ago I got an email saying that Dark Secrets, the third and final book in the Detective Joe Stone series was complete. The email had an attachment. . . . . but it was just the book cover. Arrgghhh, I needed the book!!! Don't get me wrong, the cover is great, as you'll see for yourself in a minute, but I NEEDED the book. I wasn't even interested in the blurb - JUST THE BOOK!!!

Luckily, for the sake of my own sanity, Jack sent me a copy of Dark Secrets very soon after that and as you've probably already guessed - I've finished it!

This is exactly why I absolutely love being a book blogger as I think that so many fabulous books and authors may have flown well under my radar otherwise. Being a book blogger means that I'm able to discover them and then shout about them and share the book love here on The Hippo with you, my lovely readers!

So while we're on the subject of fabulous books let's get on with the main event shall we - the cover reveal and blurb of Dark Secrets!

Detective Joe Stone is battling personal issues alongside a promotion which he feels unready to fulfil. When a psychopath escapes from Broadmoor and starts abducting the team under his command he is under increasing pressure. Can Joe hold his nerve or will events lead to a tragic finale?

I absolutely love this atmospheric cover with the skull in the bottom of the wardrobe and the menacing looking shadow being cast! It goes so well with the book but I'm keeping quiet about that until the upcoming blog tour!

Dark Secrets will be published on 27th July and it's available to pre-order now (links can be found at the end of this post) and it's also Jack's birthday today . . . . Happy birthday Jack!!. . .  so why not show a fabulous author some love on his birthday and check out his amazing books. 🎉

If you haven't read Loose Cannon and/or Long Shot then you might be pleased to hear that they are both available to download for only 99p each until Friday 12th July (links at the end of this post). If you love crime fiction then I promise you that it will be money well spent! If you need any more persuading you can read my review for Loose Cannon here and my review for Long Shot here.

  1. It's a brilliant post Neats and that's why I keep returning to you for my cover reveals and reviews. It's like a trip down memory lane with your amazing enthusiasm from the very start and I am so grateful that you have loved these 3 books which I have thoroughly enjoyed writing. I am now starting work on new projects but there will be a return to Detective Joe Stone in the future. Thank you Neats x
