#BlogBlitz - The Puppet Master - Abigail Osborne

I'm over the moon to be one of today's stops on the Blog Blitz for this stunning debut novel by Abigail Osborne.

The Puppet Master was originally self-published by the author herself, but Abigail has now been signed by the lovely people at BloodHound Books and the book was re-released on November 13th.

I was blown away by this book so it's great to be given the opportunity to shout about it again and share my original review.

                                                       Synopsis

Billie is hiding from the world in fear of a man who nearly destroyed her. But a chance meeting with budding journalist, Adam, sparks a relationship that could free her from her life of isolation and fear.

Unbeknown to Billie, Adam knows exactly who Billie is and is determined to expose her and get justice for the lives he believes she has ruined. But first, he needs to convince her to open up to him. As an unwanted attraction blossoms between them, Adam comes to realise that all is not as it seems.

Who is really pulling the strings? And are Adam and Billie both being played?

One thing is for sure, The Master wants his puppets back – and he’ll do anything to keep them.

My review (originally posted on 26th November 2016)

I'd heard so many good things about The Puppet Master that when author Abigail Osborne asked me if I'd like to read and review it for her I just had to accept.

It's quite obvious from the outset that Billie has had a troubled past, she keeps herself to herself, sticks to her own routine and tries to avoid new people, so when Adam asks to share her table in her safehaven of a bookshop she's thrown into turmoil. What Billie doesn't know is, although Adam is a stranger to her he knows exactly who she is and he's out to expose her.

When Adam seemingly accidentally bumps into Billie again she can feel her defences wavering but she's determined not to let him in no matter what but Adam's not about to give up on her anytime soon.

What neither of them know is that they have something, or rather someone, in common and they both would have been better off not knowing him at all.

For a debut novel, this is a first-rate psychological thriller. The story flows seamlessly and I really felt for Billie and Adam as their stories unfolded. When I discovered just how Eric was connected to them both and exactly what he'd been up to I was horrified. I'd had an inkling of what was coming but when I actually read the words and had my suspicions confirmed I was still shocked.

Abigail has taken a very delicate and often taboo subject and sensitively written a superbly believable story about it. Trust me when I say that this is an author who is definitely one to watch!

Abigail is originally from the Lake District but moved to the West Midlands for University where she completed an English Literature & History degree and also met her husband. She is a passionate reader and has an unsustainable collection of books. This obsession with books has led to her creating her own Dewey decimal system and she has been known to issue fines to family and friends if her book is not returned on time. 'The Puppet Master' is Abigail's debut novel and has unleashed a passion for writing. When not writing or reading Abigail is usually playing her violin or hiding from her much too energetic cats. She also works as a Needs Assessor for disabled university students in the West Midlands.
